Upper Mustang is an ancient Himalayan Kingdom which situated in the northern central part, is one of the exotic trekking circuits in Nepal. Upper Mustang trek passes through high peaks, glaciers, and alpine valleys. The thousands years of isolation has kept the culture, lifestyle and heritage remain unchanged for centuries and to this date. The houses in Mustang are mostly made from stone and sun baked mud bricks. The city wall and the four storey palace in Lo-Manthang are some of the beautiful architectures of Mustang region. In Upper mustang trekking we offer to visit into the remote Trans-Himalayan mountain area with Tibetan influence culture. Mustang, a land where the soul of man is still considered to be as real as the feet he walks on: a land said to be "barren as a dead deer" but where beauty and happiness abound in spite of hardship, was a part of the Tibetan Kingdom of Gungthang until 1830's. The wall city of Lo Monthang, unofficial capital of Mustang still remains a kingdom and has a king. The king of Lo Monthang still retains his title and he has been given the honorary rank of Colonel in the Nepal army.
Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival (1300m)
Odea Services will pick you up at the international airport then transfer to the hotel. Evening welcome dinner at typical Nepali Restaurant with Cultural dance show.Nepali Dal Bhat(Rice and Lentil Soup),Momo and Everest beer makes you great mood of cheers.(Dinner)
Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing.
Having breakfast then start an interesting tour around Kathmandu. We will arrange a tour guide of your chosen language to give you a tour and introduction to our rich culture amongst our ancient and fascinating history and religion. Am: Boudhanath Stupa & Pashupatinath Temple. Pm: Patan Durbar Square and Soyambhunath then back to hotel.Overnight at Hotel. (Breakfast)
Day 03: Heading to Pokhara+Boating in Pokhara : Optional Flight
Early morning heading to Pokhara via Tourist bus which takes 6-7 hours. You may use flight which takes just 25 min.Evening Boating at fewa lake and rounding near the lake side area. O/N at Hotel. (Breakfast)
Day 04: Pokhara- Jomsom-Kagbeni (2858m).
Early in morning having breakfast then transfer to the airport. Then flight to Jomsom, a super scenic flight of 20 minutes brings you at Jomsom.This is a large town, headquarter of the Mustang region; it is also a major village on the Kaligandaki area linking the age old Trans-Himalayan Salt Trade route to Tibet. In may visit an interesting wind swept villages situated on the main age old Trans Himalayan salt trade route to Tibet via Upper Mustang area. O/N at Lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 05: Trek from Kagbeni- Chele(3030m)
Kagbeni to Chele Actually, Kagbeni is the entry point to upper Mustang. From Kagbeni, trail leads up the east bank of Kali Gandaki and climbs over many ridges as it head north. After, that, through the interesting cave, Gompa crossing place of Tangbe, Chhuksang and reaches Chele (3,030m). Walking time takes about 5/6 hours. Overnight at Lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 06: Trek from Chele-Gilling (3720m).
From Chele, trail leads ascending to Samar. After that it climbs above Samar to a ridge, descends into a large gorge past a Chorten painted in red, black, yellow and white, all pigments made from local rock. From there one can enter another valley filled with juniper trees and drops to Bhena (3800m) and trail ascends goes to the place of Giling Walking time takes approximately 6/7 hours, Overnight at Lodge. Day 07: Gilling- Charang(3490m) Overnight at lodge.
At the place of Geling, the trail climbs gently through field up the centre of the valley; it passes above Tama Gaon and its imposing Chorten. After crosses Tangmar Chu River, with a short climbing enters Charang (3490m). Walking time takes about 5/6 hours, Overnight at Lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 08: Tsarang- Lo Mangthang (3840m).
Lomanthang is the capital city of upper Mustang. We will spend part of the morning exploring the interesting village of Charang and its large monastery, before setting out for Lo Manthang. We climb gently above the valley to a large isolated Chorten that marks the boundary between Charang and Lo Manthang. The trail then broadens and eventually we get our first view of the walled city of Lo Manthang. The city has only one entrance so we circumambulate the wall to the gate on the north-east corner's.Overnight at local lodge(Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 09: Explore Lomathnag.
Today, you are free to explore the fascinating Village of Lo Manthang. The city contains about 150 houses, as well as residences for its many lamas. There are four major temples within the village and one of these, Champa Lhakang, contains a huge clay statue of Buddha as well as elaborates mandalas painted on the walls. The king's palace is an imposing building in the center of the city and is occupied by the current King and Queen. Although his duties are largely ceremonial, the King is respected by the people. Throughout the kingdom, the villagers continue to seek his advice regarding many issues. It is possible to hire horses to visit these valleys, but this short tour will incur extra costs.O/N at local Lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch &Dinner)
Day 10: Trek to Lo Gekar & then to Ghami (3460m).
We begin our return journey from Lo Manthang, taking the upper highland route. This highland route offers dramatic views of Lo Manthang and the Charang Valley, with snow clad peaks in the background. Just past the settlement of Lo Gekar, we reach the oldest monastery in Mustang, the Ghare Gompa. We continue our journey on the highland route, crossing alpine meadows before dropping down a steep eroded gully to Dhakmar for lunch. After lunch, we walk through the pretty valley, climb to a ridge and descend from there back to Ghami.O/N at Lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch &Dinner)
Day 11: Trek to Chaile.
we will keep our views of Dhaulagiri and Nil Giri mountains and take lower trail via Rachen Gompa from Shyanboochen, Rachen Gompa is mysterious gompa grown itself lap of the rocky cave, continue to Samar and then to Chaile.O/N at local lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch &Dinner)
Day 12: Trek to Muktinath (3900M).
Now we must retrace our route back over the Nyi La to Chhuksang for awhile and then can take upper route to Muktinath a hindu's temple located on the higest mountain 3900M, you can see many Nepali and Indian pilgrimist even walking on their bare feet. O/N at local lodge.(Breakfast, Lunch &Dinner)
Day 13: Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom.
Muktinath temple is very famous for Hindus and Buddhist.Thousands of pilgrims are queuing and holding the offering to the temple. The main temple is call Bishnu (the deity protector) behind the temple 108 taps are containing to offer the fresh sprouting water shower for pilgrims. 24hours lighting flame on the water monastery is about 100 meter away from the temple and only nuns are living in this monastery. This is the important place for both Hindus and Buddhist pilgrimage.O/N at Lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 14: Jomsom-Pokhara flight.
Today we fly from Jomsom-Pokhara then leisure day in Pokhara.O/N at Hotel (Breakfast)
Day 15: Back to Kathmandu:Optional flight
We will heading to Kathmandu via tourist bus its takes 7 hours and via flight 25 min. Overnight at Kathmandu Hotel. (Breakfast and farewell dinner)
Day 16: Farewell friend.
We will transfer you airport as per your flight time.(Breakfast)
