Day 1: Arrive in New Delhi
Welcome to India! Arrive in the energetic capital city of New Delhi; meet your representative and transfer to the hotel. Time to rest and relax after your journey and acclimate to the new time zone.Overnight at New Delhi.
Day 2: Sightseeing in Old & New Delhi City Tour
Begin in the walled city of Old Delhi, founded by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan. Travel along the winding streets to Jama Masjid, the largest and best-known mosque in India. On a cycle rickshaw, continue along the lanes of Chandi Chowk, once the imperial avenue of Mughal royalty. After lunch, on to New Delhi, a city of airy boulevards, lush parks and gardens. Visit the Sikh Temple and drive past the imposing India Gate War Memorial to Indian and British soldiers, Parliament House and the Presidential Palace. Enjoy a visit to the Gandhi Smriti, the official residence and is a museum dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi where he spent the last 144 days of his life. The tour continues with a visit to Humayun's Tomb set in stunning gardens, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Day 3: Agra
Morning train to Agra, enjoy a guided tour of the impressive Taj Mahal.Overnight at Agra.
Days 3-4: Jaipur
Take an orientation walk around town and guided tour of the Amber Fort. Enjoy free time to explore other sites around town; opt to see a Bollywood film.Overnight at Jaipur.
Day 5: Tordi Sagar
Dive into rural life and visit a potter and other local areas of a village. Opt to take a jeep safari to the dunes for sunset, head for a hike in the hills or get a henna tattoo from local women.
Before leaving Tordi Sagar, enjoy a local lunch prepared by traditional methods at a village hamlet. En route to Pushkar, visit a Planeterra-supported learning centre and the kids who benefit from the centre. Upon arrival to Pushkar take an orientation walk. In the morning, climb Savitri Temple perched atop a hill and catch the sunrise. Indulge in an included dinner in the desert cooked by cameleers with local entertainment.
