Gokyo Valley & Everest Base Camp Trek 17N/18D

The Gokyo Valley and Everest Base Camp Trek falls under the famous Everest Circuit. This is the world renowned trekking trail of Nepal. Everyone is more than excited to see the highest mountain of the world, the Mt. Everest. In this trek one can experience the most adventurous airport, the Lukla airport situated at the highest altitude. The trekking trails go along the beautiful DudhKoshi River, many suspension bridges laden with prayer flags, the beautiful hills, and the highlight, the accompanying Himalayas. This trip also takes you to the home of the legendary Sherpa people, based at the foothills of the highest peak in the world, Mt. Everest at 8,848m.The Gokyo and the Khumbu valleys are debatably the most impressive and interesting of the Everest region. This trekking explores the friendly Sherpa villages, monasteries, wildlife and dramatic mountain scenery of the area.
The other highlights of this trek is the high pass Cho La Pass situated at the height of 5,363 m, one of the three high passes at the Everest circuit. In this trek one is able to go to the viewpoints, GokyoRi and Kala Pathhar from where the scenery is exhilarating and impressive. The blue turquoise water of the Gokyo Lake is heavenly and the series of Lakes breath taking. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu:
Our airport representative will receive you at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and transfer to your hotel. Depending upon the time of your arrival, pre-trip meeting will be hosted either on the first day or the first hour of the second day. During the evening, you will be taken for a traditional Nepali welcome dinner with cultural performances.Overnight at a Hotel. Welcome dinner included.

Day 02: Full day sightseeing tour in Kathmandu:
After your morning breakfast, you will be received by your guide for the sightseeing at Kathmandu. The sites you will be taken for are:
SwoyambhuNath Stupa: Located on the top of the hill, Swoyambhunath Stupa is a Buddhist holy site also known as the monkey temple. The dome shaped Stupa with eyes on all four sides is absolutely beautiful. The view of the whole Kathmandu valley from the top of the stupa is breath taking. 
Kathmandu Durbar Square: Located at the heart of Kathmandu, Kathmandu Durbar Square is one of the ancient palaces in Kathmandu Valley; Patan Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square being the other two. The Durbar Square comprises of a palace, a courtyard, the temples and various statues.
Pashupatinath Temple: The holy Hindu temple, Pashupatinath is the temple of Lord Shiva and also comprises of many other temples. This UNESCO world heritage site is magnificent in structure and the holy Bagmati River that flows alongside is where cremation rituals is performed.
Boudhanath Stupa: Situated to the north eastern outskirts of Kathmandu, this is another holy place for the Buddhists. The dome, mandala, pinnacle, the umbrella and the whole Stupa itself is a true work of art and beauty. Recently renovated Stupa post-earthquake gives the serenity in the crowded city.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2,804m) - 35 mins. Trek to Phakding (2,610m) - 3 hrs. 
The early morning 35 minutes scenic flight from the domestic airport takes us to the beautiful yet adventurous airport of the world, the Lukla or Tenzin Hillary Airport. After landing, we have the time to explore around the airport, the hills and the place itself. Then we start our trek descending towards DudhKoshi River and heading towards Phakding. The trail today is easy and the walk mesmerizing through the suspension bridges and forests.

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,441m) - 5.5 hrs. 
After the morning breakfast, we start our trek towards Namche Bazar, the gateway to Everest. We walk along the banks of the beautiful DudhKoshi, cross many suspension bridges laden with prayer flags. The trail goes steep up towards Namche Bazaar. This place is beautiful with many quality restaurants, hotels, bars, bakeries etc.

Day 05: Namche Bazaar acclimatization day. 
Today we stroll around Namche Bazaar, do a little hiking and acclimatize to the thinning of the air. We can hike up to the Syanboche airport, from where the breathtaking views can be captured. We can also hike up to a museum that consists of traditional stuffs of the Sherpa people. Have a good lunch and prepare for the trek.

Day 06: Trek to PhorsteThanga (3,680m) - 5 hrs. 
Today we start our trek from Namche Bazaar walking up the rhododendron forests, juniper forests etc. During spring and summers, the forests provide the best view and is more than beautiful. The trail passes through many Yak kharkas and summer settlement areas. The walk today will be 5 hours to reach PhortseThanga.

Day 07: Trek to Machherma (4,470m) - 5 hrs. 
The trail from PhortseThanga to Machherma passes through the side of the DudhKoshi valley, forests, and waterfalls. You can sometimes also see the wild animals such as pheasants, musk deer’s etc. along the way. The trek will be of 5 hours so we will reach Machherma by early noon. Machherma is a small and beautiful Sherpa village in the Khumbu Region of Nepal surrounded by beautiful Himalayan ranges.

Day 08: Trek to Gokyo (4,790m) - 5.5 hrs. 
Today we head out on the trekking trails to reach one of the best destinations throughout the trek, the Gokyo valley. The trail is beautiful today and continues up the Ngozumbu Glacier towards Cho Oyu, the peaks topping the 8000m marker. There are series of lakes upon reaching the Gokyo valley and the third lake with turquoise blue color is the beautiful Gokyo Lake.

Day 09: Trek to GokyoRi (5,364m) and back to Gokyo - 5 hrs. 
After breakfast today, we climb steeply up to the GokyoRi, the best viewpoint of the Gokyo region. Gokyo is not only popular for its grand view from Gokyo Peak but also for the six lakes which it hosts. Wecan also climb on a hill at the edge of the Lakes to get astounding views of Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makulu. Hiking up to GokyoRi rewards breathtaking views of sunrise over the Himalayas. Upon exploring the GokyoRi area, we get back to the Gokyo.

Day 10: Trek to Thangna (4,730m) - 4 hrs. 
The trail today is easy as there aren’t much ascents and descents. The stay at Thangna will be at a very basic guesthouse. The sceneries along the way is exhilarating. After walking for around 4 hours we reach Thangna.

Day 11: Cross Cho La pass (5,363m) then trek to Dzongla (4,830m) - 7 hrs. 
We wake up early today and head towards one of the high passes at the Everest Region the famous Cho La Pass at 5,363m altitude. The Pass must be crossed before noon to avoid bad weather thus we start our walk from easly in the morning. At the Pass we are rewarded by the magnificent views of the Mountains. We descend down to Dzongla after crossing the Cho La Pass. The walk will be easy if there isn’t much snow. After walking for 7 hours in total we finally reach Dzongla.

Day 12: Trek to Lobuche (4,910m) - 4 hrs. 
Today the trek will be the easiest and the shortest. We walk for four hours to reach this beautiful place of Lobuche.

Day 13: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,365 m) then back to GorakShep - 8 hrs. 
This is one of the longest and hardest walks of the day. The walk will be along the Khumbu Glacier towards the Everest Base Camp. The mountains are breath taking and the views more than exhilarating. The walk will be tough but the mountains and the sceneries is worth every hard work throughout the trek.after reaching EBC, we return back to Gorakshep to spend the night.

Day 14: Hike up to Kala Patthar (5,555m) early in the morning and trek down to Periche (4,200m) - 6 hrs. 
One of the most difficult and challenging part is the hiking to Kala Patthar. We wake up early in the morning to reach the highest altitude of our trek, the most extravagant view point, the Kala Patthar. The view of the highest mountain of the world Mt. Everest and on all sides the giants such as Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse and countless others is truly heavenly. We make a quick descent to Gorakshep, grab some lunch and descend down to Periche.

Day 15: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,441m) - 5.5 hrs.
Today we head back to Namche Bazaar, the beautiful place where we spent acclimatizing for a day before the walk to Everest Base Camp. The walk is long but mostly consists of descents. We walk down through Pangboche and Tengboche while walking down to the trading hub, Namche Bazaar.

Day 16: Trek to Lukla (2,804m) - 6 hrs. 
Bidding farewell to the mountains we trek down to Lukla, the starting point of our trek. The walk will be mostly descents and will take around 6 hours to reach this beautiful place.

Day 17:Morning flight from Luklato Kathmandu.
We catch the early morning flight from Lukla, be a part of the scenic mountain flight for the last time and fly back to Kathmandu. Our representative will fetch you and transfer you back to the hotel. You can spend the leisure time shopping, resting or strolling around Thamel.

Day 18: Transfer to the International Airport for departure
This is your last day in Kathmandu. After breakfast, you will be fetched upon by our guide; 3 hours prior to your flight time and drop you at the Tribhuvan International Airport for your final departure.

Kathmandu:We offer you breakfast in the hotel in Kathmandu but you have to pay your own lunch and dinner.

Trekking : We will provide all meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner) during the trekking in Mountain area.

Guide & Porter during the trekking:

We  will provide a professional trekking guide (license holder) and insured staffs as well.The number of porter depends on group size. We will provide their salary, accommodation, insurance,medicine and  meals during trekking.

Travel Insurance:

All trekkers / travelers are requested to insure their travel insurance before heading to Gokyo Everest Base Camp Trek. Please note that the insurance should be covered medical, air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and all treatment costs.
